Bulk, Metadata, and Streaming API Updates
You can now request gzip-compressed responses from Bulk API, which reduces network traffic and improves response time. Any request that uses the Accept-Encoding header with a value of gzip returns a gzip-compressed response body, along with a response header of Content-Encoding: gzip. See Using Compression for Responses in the Bulk API Developer's Guide for more details.
Organization Settings Changes
In Spring ‘13, several Metadata API types have been updated or added to improve support for organization settings. For the declarative file-based API, all organization settings types are accessed via the Settings name and setting component member. For example, the following excerpt from the package manifest file accesses SecuritySettings information:
Tasks are now supported in PushTopic queries.
Increased Limits for Unlimited and Enterprise Edition Organizations
Streaming API now has increased limits for Unlimited Edition and Enterprise Edition organizations. The new limits are:
- The maximum number of clients per topic is 20 for Unlimited Edition and Enterprise Edition organizations, and 10 for all other organizations.
- The maximum number of concurrent clients across all topics is 20 for Unlimited Edition and Enterprise Edition organizations, and 10 for all other organizations.
- The maximum number of events per day is 20,000 for Unlimited Edition and Enterprise Edition organizations, and 10,000 for all other organizations except free organizations, where the maximum is 1000.
